New York Fashion Week- Day 3

Friday 8th February

Pierre Balmain

Pierre Balmain have decided to go dark for Autumn Winter- a more classic choice of design and colour than some of the other brands. The style had a sort of 60's theme with the monochrome and use of the miniskirt and fishnets... with a little androgyny too. Its cutting edge and bold, suitable for a modern day woman. The bizarre cow style print breaks up the plain colour block and keeps it funky and fresh.

Kate Spade

I love this collection. In contrast to a lot of the other collections, this one is much brighter and has a more springtime colour scheme. With cerise pink with bright yellow and leopard print, its funky and fresh. It is a mixture of youthful fun, and girly prim and proper. Ladylike meets funky, i think it looks great and would happily own the entire collection.

Jason Wu

This collection is very bold and striking.  The silhouettes really nip in around the waist and manage to combine femininity and sex appeal.. The colour palette is bold, with dark greys and back with a flash of red bursting through. The smart tailoring and nipped in waists  go back to edwardian times, compared to a lot of the other loose fitting pieces from other designers.

Rag and Bone

This collection had a kind of aviation theme, with a simple colour scheme. Grey black and white are combined with flashes of orange and electric blue to break it up. There was a heavy focus on jackets, long and short from bomber style to tuxedo style. The silhouettes are almost aviator mixed with saville row tailoring, and the  flashes of colour brighten up with winters outfits.
