Hair Tutorial

I wanted to share this tutorial i found online- i love the bow look on hair as its super cute, and it updated the old balerina bun.

This video is so easy to follow and i found it so helpful! I followed it and did my hair the same way for work the next day and everyone complimented my hair:)

Skip to around 4 minutes for the tutorial for long hair!

Disney Fashion Show?

"Sister by Sibling has created a one-off costume inspired by  Cinderella's famous ball gown, to be showcased during a Disney catwalk spectacular."

You have no idea how much this excites me! I have said in previous posts, just how much i love Disney! In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, many international brands are staging a fashion show at the end of the month. I was already desperate to go to Disneyland, now i think i would genuinely cut my arm off...no? ok maybe i would just sell my Louis Vuitton bag.... But that means a lot!!!
Sister by Sibling is a design trio, they have created a costume based around 3 of the mice supporting Cinderella, each one picked to symbolise a member of the trio.
"Revisiting Disney's Cinderella as an adult has been an amazing experience and to be asked to design for Disneyland Paris from this starting point was a joy,"
Many designers have been announced for the show, although it is not yet known which designers will be creating looks for which Disney characters.
Expect a follow up post as soon as the photos from the show are released! EEEK!

My Favourite Nail Art So Far.....

This is my favourite nail art so far!!! I LOVE leopard print so i really wanted to add it to my nails. I have used stampers before to do leopard print nails, but i think this looks alot more funky. It was all done free-hand so i could choose the size of the print too.

What do you think?

Recent Nails

I just wanted to share some recent pictures of my nails! I am getting really into my nail art and hope that i am improving each time!

This was a look i was really proud of! A gradient over nail striping tape to create this zig zag effect.

This was the manicure i did for my mum for mothers day. Gold glitter on one finger, with a little blue gemstone. The rest of the nails are blue with gold ribbon patterns printed on.

This one i did on myself and my mother, red nails with white doggie bones and black paw prints

Has anyone else been sucked in by the nail art trend?

Today I am Wearing...

This is my pub outfit from Friday night, the pub was very busy, there was a big event for St Patricks day, plus we were beginning Melanies birthday celebrations early.

I think this skirt is really flattering, and it makes me feel lady like. I like short skirts because i am lucky to have quite nice legs, but i get fed up of having to pull them down all the time! I like that this outfit adds a few curves to my quite boyish figure!

Red Dresses..

So i have decided to do a little shopping recently, i bought my new jeans from my previous post, and my blue t-shirt.

I wanted to buy lots of basics to replace all my older stuff that has worn out or misshapen through the wash.

I bought 2 dresses for dirt cheap that i really loved- both red!

I LOVE red, its one of my favourite colours and i always find myself attracted to red things.

This dress from Boohoo.com was about £10, a real bargain but it is super flattering! I was wary of the cut-outs as i am very self conscious about my stomach, but i found this made me feel more confident. the cut-outs are very flattering and while they show a little flesh, they don't show too much, just  a hint.

This dress was from New Look. This one is a midi length one, i have wanted a dress like this for a while, but one of the ones i tried on previously was too tight around the legs, which made it very hard to walk in, and it was uncomfortable. However this one is a little looser around the legs and has a bit more stretch in it! I would wear it with a cardigan for a day-time look, and with heels, lipstick and a gorgeous glittery clutch bag for evening. This too was cheap, only £12.

Anyone else bought anything new recently? Any bargains they want to share?

Today I am Wearing...

This weekend was my boyfriends mums birthday, so we were all in the pub most of the weekend! This was my chilling out outfit for Sunday. SUPER comfy denim jeans from New Look- honestly i cannot rave about these enough! I used to live in jeggings as i find jeans quite uncomfy, and jeggings fit well, but these jeans are just as good, and were only £15. mixed with a blue top from New Look teen section (i mentioned it in my previous post about sizing issues) and a blue cardigan from H+M. Very cheap outfit, very simple but something i could wear anywhere. I teamed this with my beloved Vivienne Westwood Melissa shoes, i ADORE these shoes! They are such strange colours- peachy orange and purple, but surprisingly they go with quite a lot of things, and add a quirky edge to a simply outfit. I also wore this cute liquorice all sorts necklace from Becca Bee Designs, a range of handmade jewellery. This piece is a one-off, as all the "all sort" beads are handmade, so even if you ask them to make the same piece, it will always be a little bit different, which i like, it makes all the pieces unique.

You can view the facebook page *here*. They often update with photos of recent products, but if you like anything on their you can message them with what kind of thing you like, and they will commission something for you:)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend, and found a suitable comfy outfit like me for relaxing and waiting for the St Patricks hangovers to end!

Is size 8 really aspirational?

I went on a little shopping spree last weekend and was a little surprised with what i found out.

I am quite skinny, I am lucky that i never really have to worry about my weight. I am a UK 6 top and a UK 8 bottom.

While out I found this top I liked, a plain blue t-shirt but I just loved the colour and feel. However i was not willing to pay £16 for one plain t-shirt! Replacing the Topshop T-shirt, I decided to look in New Look for a cheaper option!

Looking around I could not find my blue top, but I picked up a few other things instead. Venturing downstairs in the Basingstoke store, I found myself in the children's range after spotting a top i liked, and not realising! I have to say New Look kids clothing, is basically just smaller adults clothing, or so I thought.

I found this blue top- so similar to the Topshop one, but considerably cheaper! I was so annoyed that the children's range had a cheaper version but not the adults.

That was until i compared the sizes of the children's top and my adult size 8 t-shirt i had picked up, form upstairs.

The blue top, in size age 12, was actually larger than the size 8 top from the adult range. At first i thought "GREAT" as the top was half the price of the other new look top, and £11 cheaper than the similar Topshop one.

But having got home i started thinking. Generally most girls my age aspire to be a size 8- so if a size 8 top is SMALLER than an age 12 top, are we aspiring to be thinner than children. Surely there is nothing sexy about looking like a child? Is it healthy to want to be the size of a child?

It is definitely something i am going to think about, it made me think of the idea of waxing and body hair removal as well. I personally like to wax and be hair free- but is that also reverting my adult body to being more like a child?

What do you think?

Milan Fashion Week- Day 5

Monday 25th

Giorgio Armani

It is a good time to be Armani, with the success of his gowns adorning the oscar red carpet, as well as this breathtaking show.
Drama, simplistic elegance. Velvet and silk. Interesting collars.
There is an interesting use of waistcoats and masculine collars to switch up the evening gowns and make them a little bit different.
A simple colour palette is kept, using the silhouettes and details to draw the attention, mostly monochrome with details of navy and slate. Harlequin style jackets were a surprising addition.
Armani is know for his gowns, but this collection offered an alternative to the classic evening wear options.

Milan Fashion Week- Day 5

Sunday 24

Marni

Forest inspired with green and brown colours, and fur trims. This collection is quite romantic in an earthy way.
A lot of the fabrics used were ones often used in mens wear- tweeds and outer jacket materials. Peplums added a slightly more feminine edge, and the glamour was injected by adding the fur stoles.
Quite a minimalist collection with a hint of 1940's.
Where the wild things are.

Dolce and Gabbana

Is fashion art? with this collection the answer is decided for us.
mosaics created the prints that adorned these garments. They were embroidered and bejewelled and held the images of saints and icons. The jewellery that supported the garments really is spectacular. Rich colours.
Certainly a unique collection and unlike anything else seen this season.

Milan Fashion Week- Day 4

Saturday 23rd

Jill Sander

Queen in modernity and minimalism
I love that whatever Jil Sanders does, it always looks modern, no matter if it is the brand new collection or from 5 seasons ago. The colour pops brighten it but do not succumb to fads and trends.
Her designers are well considered, refined and structured.

Pucci

This is such a fun collection. i love the thigh high boots, both in the sandy brown colour and the more S+M black version. The prints used here remind me of the 70's but with a glamorous injection of sex appeal. 70's also gave inspiration for the fringe details used in many of the pieces
The hemlines mixed with the crazy boots was reminiscent of the 60's
We then wandered into Seventies vixen territory for fringed jackets and sequinned shifts, capes and big coats of furry proportions that came in pretty pastel shades: pink, violet, sky blue and nude.
Short shifts, embellished prints, and bohemian spirit.
