Raf Simons Enchanted Garden....

When Raf Simons began designing for Christian Dior, i was excited. Would he be able to match the designs of Galliano? Would Dior be the same as before or would he tame it? I hoped he would not!


The latest fashion show by Raf Simons for Dior confirms that they made a great choice.  The Spring/ Summer collection certainly was very fresh. Set on a runway reminiscent of a springtime garden, it was just beautiful. And the garments were both beautiful and elegant, but also young bright and fresh.

There are lots of small floral prints, the bold choice of navy blue in a Spring/ Summer collection, but contrasted with pops of yellow and gold.

This is one of my favourite designs, i wouldn't normally put these 2 colours together but it looks so pretty but quite modern.

National Television Awards

In the interest in fashion i thought i would make the effort to watch the National Television Awards, expecting it to be full of beautiful gowns like the other award shows.

I have to say i was bitterly disappointed! Most people i either didnt like their dress, or i felt like they got the dress right but bad makeup or accessories. Usually at award shows i would keep a list of People who dressed well and who dressed bad, but to be honest i felt like virtually everyone could have improved on their outfits. Here is my round up of the National Television Awards "Fashion".

Tut tut... tbh theres nothing awful about this.. but not much good either. Its very Boring and frankly i was expecting something much nicer from this pretty woman.

Now I'm the first to go on about how much i love Holly, and she does look lovely. BUT i just dont like her in black... it washes her out and colour suits her so much more!!!

The dress is lovely, kind of a vintage feel. But it is severely lacking in accessories. Add some diamond pear drop earrings and a diamond bracelet or cocktail ring to bring this up to the golden hollywood level. Plus her face looks a bit odd in this image!

This dress is... odd, but i kind of like it! The hair and makeup is great, and she looks very confident. However she needs to upgrade the bag - looks like a scruffy college bag, and get rid of the thing on her wrist- i presume a cuff but looks like a sweatband!

The dress is a little frumpy and unflattering on her huge boobs, but seriously WHAT IS SHE WEARING ON HER HEAD! You are not 12 and not at a fancy dress party, cut it out!

The dress... is ok but honestly i think some of the better outfits she wore was on the x factor set. The big issue the rapper style bling hanging round her neck...

I do not even know where to begin with this. It is just wrong!!

The dress shape is lovely....but the print/embroidery is awful. It should be electric blue with an orange interior

I think she tried to be classy, but it looks very essex!! Generally i don't like white dresses, they tend to look awful. Plus she had issues with the very high split and her long spanx

SO DATED!

This dress is lovely and the hair very chic, but the shoes do not go at all!

This red dress is great- although she should know better than to wear red on a red carpet! However she should have had a more nude lip, its kind of red overload, and looks a bit clownish!

Again i don't like white much, but the shape of this dress is beautiful. However if it didn't look essex enough, its actually faint snakeskin... eurghhh

And finally - one person i felt did look spot on..

Vivienne Westwood meets the ballet

Vivienne Westwood has loaned looks from its new spring/summer 2013 collection to the English National Ballet to create promotional images for the new collection.

The images are beautiful and really push the ideas of dance, there aren't any typical ballet shoes and but it definably has a ballet mysterious look to it.

"My clothes allow you to project your personality, and are theatrical in the sense that they are real clothes, well-designed, and they give you a chance to express yourself."

He's back....

John Galliano that is.The designer who was sacked by Christian Dior after his antisemitic outburst in a Paris cafe os back and ready to showcase at New York Fashion week.

The designer will take up a residency at Oscar de la Renta, the beginning of his comeback!

John Galliano: 'I am grateful to Oscar beyond words.' 

I am so excited personally, he may have been a bit of a jerk but his designs were always so inspirations. who knows what will happen in the future!!

H+M Try eco again

I say again, as i am sure they have tried this before- as did New Look. I remember an eco/organic range in New Look- basic jerseys in muted tones... not exactly hit sellers. Yet other brands such as Edun and People Tree manage to make Eco Fashion a huge success. What is the difference? Maybe that the high street are more concerned with fast fashion and making a quick buck.

Anyway, i digress! H+M are doing a new range named hte "Conscious collection", and have a celebrity endorsement- Vanessa Paradis.

Bit of an odd  choice i feel, although she was popular whilst younger, she is not a huge celebrity for H+M shoppers and isnt so much in the limelight, especially since split with Johnny Depp.

I do have to say though that the promotional photos i have seen so far have been beautiful, fingers crossed this range will sell well, and will be more fashionable than previous high street attempts at Eco- Friendly Fashion.

"The full collection will be available at H&M from end of March and will launch alongside a Conscious collection for Men."

The Great Gatsby

MIUCCIA PRADA has unveiled four sketches of her costumes for the highly-anticipated Baz Luhrmann film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, which is due to hit cinemas this summer. Prada worked with costume designer Catherine Martin to create over 40 looks for the movie, each inspired by styles from the Prada and Miu Miu archive.

An orange organza dress, covered with plastic, scale-like, sequin embroidery, inspired by Prada's autumn/winter 2011-12 show.

A bustier dress, embroidered with pearls, stones and sequinned fringing, inspired by a modern take on the Twenties silhouette.

A multi-striped sequinned dress embroidered with plastic, inspired by Prada's spring/summer 2011 collection.

The designs take the form of shimmering dresses, covered with crystals, fringing and sequins, in shades of emerald, jade, topaz and gold. Fabrics come in luxurious velvets and furs, with the story's Twenties setting at the heart of each style

Snow Dayssss

So as everyone is aware, its been snowing!

This is my little one in the snow

And my block of flats

Luckily i bought some new shoes the other day in preparation, i wanted some shoes i can walk to uni in without the puddles getting to my feet, but didnt want to wear shoes that looked practical and ugly

I found these sort of half wellies from Office for £15- a steal! Very practical but still look very cute! Lucky I got them just in time for the snow!

*update* These shoes have been reduced AGAIN! to just £12!

What is in my handbag...

These posts seem to be very popular so i thought i would do my own one:)

So What is in my handbag? Usually quite honestly lots of rubbish and things i haven't cleared out for a long time!!!

This is my Uni bag, a huge big black Mulberry handbag, i love it because it goes with everything, and has so many pockets that it holds so much! I could easily use it for a weekend away (even though i always over pack!)

Firstly my side pocket has my bank card and headphones. I usually have my iPod in my car but i took it out for a walk in the snow:) My bank card is separate to my purse because i have a bad habit of using it at the petrol pump then shoving it into my bag instead of in my purse!

Tea bags! We used to have to bring in our own tea bags at work, although now we have them in a cupboard. 

Wooly hat! I wore this out in the snow as my ears always get mega cold and then start aching!

My Sony e-reader

I love reading but carrying books around takes up so much space. I love being able to switch books when i get bored of one:) I have just downloaded a few of the classics to dig into.

Headphones and pliers- seems an odd thing to have in my bag but i have micro ring extensions in my hair so i keep pliers on me to tighten up any that get loose 

Hair clips, these and hair ties always live right at the bottom of my bag

Hello Kitty USB- i am Obsessed with Hello Kitty, and i love this usb stick, plus dandelion benefit blusher- really cute blusher for a light sweep of glow, but not much pigmentation

My new glasses...

Pantene serum, great for frizzy ends and is also the split remedy one:)

Britney Spears perfume, it may be cheap but it does smell good, im always getting people comment how nice i smell

Kate Moss Rimmel lipstick, wore it a few days ago and it got left in my bag! It was her first one, a darkish red i got for free from Clothes Show Live

Kurt Geiger purse, Elle gave away free £20 gift cards so i bought myself a new purse with it

Another collection of makeup left in my bag, benefit highbeam highlighter, boi-ing benefit concealer, lip brush, benefit they're real mascara, avon glimmer stick eyeliner and Rimmel liquid eyeliner

Hairbrush- I am always getting tangles!!

Plus my car keys, mums house keys, plus my flat keys

Yet MORE makeup- i really need to clear out my bag! Dream Matte foundation, the liquid, mousse and powder. Bad Gal benefit eyeliner, Bourgeois Lip gloss- this one changes colour depending on the pH of your lips, Clinique cream blusher, and benefit eye shadow cream.

My university student card, sport society card, my NHS work badge and computer card, plus vaseline

My camera and camera cable- essential for on the go blogging
