Christmas Sales

I'm sure most of you have already been hitting the sales, but i know i really struggle with them. With bundles of reduced clothing everywhere i find it really hard to pick out items that will still be on trend in the future. My advice is use the sales as an opportunity to buy basic items, classic staples for your wardrobe that can be customised or styled in different ways.

I know i will be buying new underwear in the sales, as no matter what else you wear, if you have great underwear on, you will feel a lot better:) I also want to get lots of basic tops, cardigans and sweaters that i can adapt- using fabric pens, studs and by adding collars or elbow patches.

These are what key trend items i will be looking for in the sales, my prediction of what i will be wearing over the next year

X-Ray fabrics- Sheer and metallic fabrics. These should be easy to come across after the party season, and have been seen all over the catwalks.

White pieces- Every year this colour is huge, usually in the summer although we had a lot of white this winter, meaning that its pretty much a staple.

Sixties inspired pieces- Louis Vuitton and Gucci have had a lot of sixties inspired pieces on the runway.

Tailored and unisex items. Boundaries are getting blurred and an androgynous look is becoming popular. If this is too bold a look for you, try finding more feminine tailored items.

Bold patterns- Quadrant patterns and a geek look

Red- forget the little black dress, look out for a little red dress this year.

Orient- Asian inspired prints will be big in the spring/summer. If the patterns are too daunting, try a  obi style belt.

And finally keep your eyes peeled for document clutches. These are becoming THE accessory, forget clutch bags or oversized bags, with the popularity of tablets etc the document clutch is a practical but stylish accessory.

Let me know what pieces you buy from the winter sales:)
