Baftas!

So as well as the Grammys, we have had the Baftas! I have to say that i found the fashion a bit more dull than that of the Grammys, i think the new rules at this award ceremony really changed the way the stars dressed, and we saw a lot better choices.

That said, there were a few good choices at the Baftas too.

Lets start with one that has completely divided me
marion Cotillard

Normally i hate yellow, but i think it is a good choice on her, despite being very vivid. however i cannot decide if i love the cut of the dress, or hate it! I like the bizarre round fold of fabric, as it makes the dress a little more interesting, but what is up with that random hole cut out of it?

From the front it looks quite interesting but from the back? Judging from some of tho pictures i saw it is particularly unflattering from the back! However if that small detail wasn't there, this Dior couture dress would have been gorgeous.

Anne Hathaway

I am getting increasingly impressed with her style, once a disney star now a hollywood starlet!

This Burberry gown is gorgeous and she looks so confident wearing it. Such a simp beautiful black dress, with the top half has a sort of black studded effect, vamping it up. Stunning. I beleive that clutch is an Anya Hindmarch Les Miserable inspired clutch too.

Amy Adams

Normally Elie Saab is a no brainer for events like the Baftas. But oh dear....

Its all a bit too much. Too low cut with the opaque black making her look very flat chested, with too much black lace mixed with an extremely high split.. .its just too much and not as elegant as one would usually expect from both designer and actress. Its all a little dated.

Helen Mirren

WOW, now she really pulled out all the stops.

Now Im not a huge fan of the Nicholas Oakwell couture dress, it is a little old fashioned, and she usually dresses in something a bit for fresh and modern. However mixed with all her accessories and THAT hair, it does look good. There has been a lot of press coverage about the hair, a lot of people don't like it, however i think its great! Why shouldn't she try something new, at the end of the day she can always dye it back, plus she got more headlines than any of the Bafta winners. And in every image of her she is smiling like a Cheshire cat.

Gemma Arterton
This dress has divided people too, most people seem to not like it, although i cannot make up my mind

It seems to be trying to keep up with the monochrome trend, but obviously using flesh tones instead. I think had the dress been black and white, it may have been received better.  The general style of the dress is lovely and flattering, I'm just not sure about the flesh tone as it makes it a bit more S+M and as if she is just wearing lots of black bands! However her hair and makeup look lovely.

Laura Bailey

I do not like this Roskanda Ilincic dress at all. She has a lovely waif style figure and this dress drowns it. It is shapeless and although the colour is bold, it clashes with the red carpet- something you should really think about when you know you will be having photos taken there.

Sarah Silverman

There is just one problem with this outfit, all the folds in the fabric. it draws attention to the stomach, and honestly if all that was taken away this would look beautiful. i love the top half with the halter neck detail.

Juno Temple

This Stella McCartney dress is stunning. Beautiful and elegant Super flattering and i think it is  quite sexy in a demure way. The bag is huge as well! The only suggestion i have is i would have probably added a nice crystal or diamond bracelet to go with the ring.

Thandie Newton

Another lace mishap...
There isn't really anything that i do like about this.  The Hair is frizzy when she normally sports glossy smooth locks, the lipstick is far too bright and the dress is just plain awful. Too much lace and too high a split. take the halter neck off and make it strapless, and lined all the way through not just to mid thigh, and remove the split, then you have a red carpet worthy dress.

What did you think of the Baftas fashion?
