London Fashion Week- Day 2

Saturday 16th Feb

Orla Kiely

I love this range, so girly and feminine but very lady like. Orla Kiely definitely has a certain look to her designs, and her pieces are timeless, you do not need to buy a whole new wardrobe every season, all her pieces are interchangeable. the shift dress above is great for day or dressed up with heel for the evening as a cool chic outfit.

John Rocha

John Rocha has been experimenting a bit more recently with colour and making more of a name for himself, whereas previously i felt he had become a bit of a shrinking violet. Last season saw and injection of colour and i was pleased to see that his season we still have the flashes of colour despite it being for Autumn Winter, why not still use bright colours. He has teamed bright orange with earthy tree like greens, one of the dresses actually looking like a tree!

The pieces were very textural and and voluptuous, i was pleasantly surprised by these beautiful garments.

House of Holland

House of Holland always seems to exude youthfulness.

This range was full of crazy 70's inspired prints, and suits which was a direct contrast to a lot of the girly dresses and ladylike chic from the other designers. The collection was very fun and certainly drew attention to itself, but while the prints were mad and young, the actual silhouettes were a little more grown up than we are used to from the brand.

Rihanna for River Island

I wasn't over-thrilled with Rihanna's first collection, but then again  am not a huge fan of her own style. i just found the collection was a bit mix matched and although i know she is working for river island, i felt like it looked like a random assortment of clothes from a high street stores, and when i buy from a celebrity collaboration, i want to feel special and i want to feel like it is limited edition. This to me didn't do it. The pictures i have chosen are my favourite pieces, i loved the daisy print dress with the dipped hem, but feel it is a little dated and wasn't necessarily appropriate for Autumn Winter. However i know a lot of people loved the range, so hopefully she will do well with it and maybe do future collections with the brand
