Magnetise!

So on top of my other varnishes i bought a few weeks ago, i also bought a magnetic one! I went through the whole crackle phase so i thought this was my next step!
I chose Barry M as usually their varnishes are quite good, plus they are very cheap so if i don't like it i have lost nothing!

I chose the burgundy colour, they current colours are all very dark and this was the brightest and nest colour. The lids pop off, as they have the magnet on them, so in theory if u don't like the pattern on the one you pick up, you could swap the magnet with another one in the shop (sneaky sneaky) as it is the magnet on the lid that determines the pattern you get!

So i chose burgundy with a striped pattern

Now this is very important
IGNORE the instructions on the bottle
I did what the instructions said 5 times and tbh the pattern came out very faint, and only in one corner. I was appalled

However i read a few reviews and was told to do it a different way
Paint a thin layer as a base coat to make sure you get enough colour. Make sure this is 100% dry. This varnish takes a while to dry by the way:S
Then paint a VERY thick coat. so very thick that you think it won't dry. (It will now take forever to dry!) Then hold the magnet over the nail. it says for 5 secs, i would do it for at least 20
The lid has a little lip on it by the way to prevent you holding the magnet too close to your nail, i find resting this on the cuticle to be good as it keeps it ready and stops smudging!

You have to do this for every individual nail, so don't paint them all then go back with the magnet, it will have dried slightly, you need to do it when the nail is very wet! With that taken into consideration and the drying time, this will take a long time! However look at the results

I love this one as it reminds me of a candy cane, very topical! As far as the product goes, theres a few glitches, it would be better if you didn't have to do such thick layers! And if it was faster drying, and if the colours available were a bit better!!!! However it is a cool effect, with nail art being huge and some of us not being so neat with a tiny nail art pen, its a great way of have party ready nail art. I don't know how other brands compare but i have heard that the 17 version is also good:)

Is anyone else a fan of the magnetic varnishes?
